Thank you very much for your interest in our works. Being a small charity with just a few volunteers and no paid staff, we are sorry that we cannot afford a full English version of this website. But here is some essential information on our organization and current projects. Friends of Guangming was founded in 1993 with a pioneering highschool sponsorship programme in Qingyuan, Guangdong. Teenagers in impoverished mountainous areas were able to graduate from highschool and then work in the city to alleviate poverty in their hometowns. The programme was well received and Friends of Guangming became a registered charitable institution in 1996. In the past two decades, we have completed more than 50 infrastructure projects across Northern region of Guangdong, Shaanxi, Yunnan and Sichuan provinces, ranging from school (re) construction, water supply, sheep rearing, literacy classes, school lunches, free medical consultations and counselling teacher trainings for the left-behind children. All our staff and directors in Hong Kong serve on a voluntary basis, without incurring any administrative cost, in order to distribute our donations fully and directly to our donees.
